change of smtp-relay within ECC

we have ECC 5.2 SP5 (yes I know it's old, we are awaiting an upgrade)

our mail guys have changed the SMTP-relay IP address and hostname (without telling us)

obviously we are no longer receiving Emails

our documentation says this is set during the install but I cannot find anywhere where it says you can change it later

it must be in a config file somewhere

any ideas ?

Hi Alick,

Open the ecc_server.ini file for editing in an appropriate plain-text editor. This file is located in the following directory on the ControlCenter server:

\ECC\ecc_inf\data\ecc_inf_hostname\data

Within the ecc_server.ini file look for the line: smtphost = xxx.xxx.com

replace the old name smtp server name xxx.xxx.com with the new smtp name. Save the file and restart the ControlCenter Server service

If you are still not getting e-mails

From the command line on the ControlCenter server host, run the following command:
   c:> telnet xxx.xxx.com 25

The result should show similar to the following: (having the FQDN of the SMTP mail server)
220  server.xxx.xxx.com Microsoft ESMTP Mail Service, Version

Check the SMTP configuration is ok by running the tests in emc167243 & emc50784

Regards

Conor
