ics.conf: Upgrading from SAM 7.0 to 7.2

I am upgrading from SAM 7.0 to SAM 7.2 (both on Windows 2003). How do I import the 7.0 ics.conf and icoi.conf into the new 7.2 Global Manager?

According to the Powerlink Knowledgebase (emc190597):

To keep this configuration information when migrating from an earlier version to Smarts SAM 7.1 or later, copy the
On a test server, I installed 7.2 and manually configured some test domains with the GUI. But now that I have copied over an old 7.0 production ics.conf file, it is not reading it when I restart the 7.2 SAM and OI. I have tried stopping the services, deleting the rps and log files, and restarting, but it is still not reading the file. It just comes up with default configurations. How does the SAM server know it “starts up for the first time”?

Thanks.

I would say emc kb is correct from my experience.

Do check the log file if there's any error regarding ics.conf.

SAM thinks that it is started for first time when it is unable to find a repository.

The normal cycle  is

1. Load ics-default.xml from SM_SITEMOD

2. Load ics.conf from SM_SITEMOD.

Its not able to find ics.conf at local/conf/ics.That's why its loading up default configuration from conf/ics-default.xml.

Check whether your ics.conf is found or not:

  dmctl -s   invoke ICF_PolicyManager::ICF-PolicyManager findConfigFile ics.conf

will give the path where SAM finds ics.conf.
