Problem with MyDell updating
Hi. I just tried to open 'MyDell' and it said there is an update which I must install to be able to continue to use 'MyDell', but it won't install, says to check my network connection! There is nothing wrong with the connection, even tried disabling the anti virus, firewall and all other security including VPN and everything else that is likely to cause such a problem, still it won't update so still I can't use 'MyDell' - Anybody any ideas how to fix this issue, there are no error codes and no information why it wont install the critical update. (Inspiron 5502 purchased 3 weeks ago direct from Dell France ( not at all happy with Dell France, no problem at all with Dell UK or Dell USA) Thanks in advance for the help to fix this.

Hi R Bon. I initialised mine as I say on April 7 and I think it was a driver update in the BIOS that may have triggered the problem in my case, this then got more compounded over time; From what I can trace in the event viewer I received multi Warnings and Error messages starting around 15.43 on 7 April, starting with a Kernal Error Event and then this then multiplied throughout various components. I have had 235 Windows hardware ERRORS, 972 Windows WARNINGS, both are still growing. When checking and researching individual ‘Errors’ etc of MS Windows10 system files, some don’t even exist! I give the Dell updates their due, they don’t appear to have created many, if any, errors or warnings but that does not mean that there is not a conflict somewhere between the Dell infrastructure and Windows. Its now been a week since I started trying to get a fix for this with Dell-Cares, I’ve heard nothing at all for 2 days, so although I am writing to you from the faulty machine, I can’t otherwise use it for my work just in case the system is, or gets, so badly corrupted that I lose all my work, nobody has said that it won’t go ‘bang’ so I am somewhat peeved

I've today had response from Dell Cares who escalated the problem to a 'level 2' engineer. They've now confirmed that the issue will be resolved in the next update of MyDell. There's no suggestion of when this might be.

I agree. Uninstalled the App then downloaded from the MS App Store and it works fine now.

I agree that the issue has been resolved in this update of MyDell (version 1.8.40.0).

Spent some time yesterday working with Microsoft who where really helpful, they gave me some things to do/try and some patches, I cleaned things up and installed 'My Dell 'and, so far, it now works ok, in fact the machine now works better than what it did before when I first got it. After over a week, not heard a thing back from Dell Level 2. Disappointing? I need 2 more machines and bits and pieces, my confidence in Dell has been badly bruised.

Just unpacked a new Dell XPS and this update issue is still exists. I am stuck in an infinite loop of failing updates when trying to open My Dell app. I uninstalled and re-installed and still the same problem. Do you still have any recommendations or remember what steps you took? Apparently this is saying the accepted solution is to contact Microsoft? LOL No.

Hi, sorry I cannot recall now what I did to sort the problem, I would only be guessing now, I hear what you are saying about MS, I dealt with MS in the UK and they bent over backwards to help. I do remember that there was a conflict between Dell preinstalled software and a MS Update and that was the prime cause of the problem. Unfortunately I am in France and Dell France (who are actualt based in Morroco !!!!) are worse than terrible, very very bad so don't deal with them, I found Dell US and UK very helpfull but they are limited as to how much than can help due to licensing agreements and cross border rules. I had to do a lot of processes and cross matching to come up with a solution which I passed back to Dell France who never said a thing by way of a thanks and soon after they released a patch. Sorry I cant be more help, but seriously, I wouldnt bother with Dell France.

Oh! I went to MyDell online, signed in to my account, and then went to Support tab. I clicked on my Device and then went to Drivers and Downloads. It stated all my drivers were up to date, but I clicked on the button to search again. Once there, I clicked on show all the updates - I'm not sure if these are one which i already uploaded or not? But there were 46 updates there available for download, even though it said I was up to date. Not sure what that was about. But there was an update there labeled: Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery Plugin for Dell Update. I downloaded it and went to bed last night. This morning, the MyDell App, as usual asked me to update it, and when I clicked install, it actually installed the update and the app is now running like before! Yay! I guess that's what did it.

Hi hello to everyone. What I did to solve this problem is I login to dell then Click Support home and there you can find your dell unit. Check for update driver. if nothing found click for dell service tag and you can find drivers there that need to update. I downloaded the Fusion driver update and install it. and now its perfectly working. This will work for those whoa have still 1year premium support services. I hope it help.
