Deleting device on Symm 8530

Hi All,

Why the below command is failing:

# symconfigure -sid xxx -cmd "delete dev  002B;" comm -nop

A Configuration Change operation is in progress. Please wait...

    Establishing a configuration change session...............Established.

    Error occurred while Defining change number 1:

    The requested feature is not supported for this Enginuity or SYMAPI version

    Device 002B generated the failure

    Terminating the configuration change session..............Done.

The configuration change session has failed.

Further:

002B Not Visible            ???:? 16B:C0  2-Way Mir     N/Grp'd      RW    5156

===============================

Is it something to do with the SYMM Erase License or anything else. Am using SYMCLI 7.5.

{8530 could be very old but am giving a try}

Regards

Taz~

Hi Mohammed,have you tried to execute the command with the -f (filename) and not the cmd option and you had the same result?

Have you checked the symapi.log file, what exactly is the error message?

I used -f (file name) but throws the same error. I will check the log file. But thought its just a delete command and the device has no associations.

Hi Taz,

For this system there are strict rules for deleting volumes one of which it is an offline change.

The message you receive says "not supported for this Enginuity".
