Gatekeeper communication error

Hi ,

I have a problem with gatekeeper communication error
When I run below,

Server1/root: /usr/symcli/bin > sympd list

Symmetrix ID: 000xxxxxxxxx

The gatekeeper device (while using the Base Daemon) has an error (Please see the Log file).

Apparently other commands are working like

server1/root: /usr/symcli/bin > syminq -sym

Device Product Device

/dev/rhdisk25 SYMMETRIX 5671 5900229000 9504000

server1/root: /usr/symclimt/bin > symgate list

Symmetrix ID: 000187431359

No GateKeeper devices were found.

How it comes because I run all these on same aix box ..syminq ¿sym shows me gatekeepers on FA which is accessable
to this host see syminq ¿sym output , I seen GK are on hdisk16,17..

is symcfg discover will fix my problem ?

thank you,

symapi-20071208.log
symapi-20071209.log
symapi-20071210.log

server1/root:/var/symapi/log> more symapi-20071210.log

Symcfg discover updates the sumcli database right..

So It will effect all symmetrix disk access I/O activity or that particular host where symcli resides ,
I am wonder have u seen my first msg there we can seen gatekeeper devices are on FA which is accessible
By this host but why symgate list doesn¿t give me the list, its not at all related to this error , bec before
This error occurred occurred also when ever I run symgate list it doen¿t give me the output¿
So what will be conseq when I run symcfg discover.. instead of this if I reboot the system it gonna fix..

Thank you so much for your reply..

symcfg discover will not effect disk access ..it simply updates local symapi database.

if you run symgate list and get "No GateKeeper devices were found." ..that means that you need to define them as gatekeeper devices to this particular host.

For example on windows you would do

symgate define pd PHYSICALDRIVE36

and on *nix you would do

symgate define pd /dev/dsk/cXtXdX

now when you run symgate list you should see them properly listed.
