Port flag for DMX

Hi,

Will someone please shed some light on the port flag?

I want to connect different falvors of unix on the same FA port in DMX, which port flag needs to be set? I hope in Vmax we don't need to assign any port flag before doing the same.

Thanks,

Shailender

it depends. If you have a brand new set of FAs and you plan on connecting multiple OSs, you can set just the flags that are needed for multiple platforms and then set OS specific flags using hba_flags. If you have FAs that you know you will only use for Linux then you can set all flags at the FA level and never bother with hba_flags. Never change FA flags with running systems.

yes, certain systems still require hba_flags/ig_flags to be set, you can go to E-Lab navigator, enter your array system, host type and it will tell you what flags need to be set. Some flags are already set at the FA level so you will only need to the extra ones via ig_flag parameter.

on DMX you would use hba_flags parameter

ig_flag means initiator group flag.....but this is auto provisioning which is the concept of Vmax, I wanna know about DMX where we use symmask.
