Symmetrix disk replacement question
Hello,
I am having trouble replacing a failed disk in a Symmetrix DMX 950, Eng 5773.134.94.
Disk 01A D 7 is faulty and needs replacement as per symdisk list -failed. Disk LED is also always on and not blinking.
However, the disk replacement procedure does not show this disk as being faulty and when attempting to manually replace it, the disk is skipped( it shows disk 1, disk 3, 5 and 9, disk # 7 is entirely skipped from both slice 01A and 16 A).
Please advise.
Thanks

Drive located at DAF-1a D07 is more than likely a spare disk. Spare disks will never appear in the Replace Disk script. That script is reserved for disks with customer data on it. The Replace Spares script is to be used for replacement of a spare disk.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Chris

In your Symdisk output notice how your Hyper Count and Total Capacity are blank, that indicates that is is most likely a spare drive. If the drive at DAF-1a D07 had been a drive with customer data on it you would seen a non-zero value listed under both Hyper Count and Total Capacity.
