Re: VMAX

not sure if i understand what you are asking. Do you need to provision 4TB worth of storage but need to make sure that it resides on top of 400 spindles ?

Re: VMAX

yes, i want to use my all spindle.

suppose i used 100 spindle for 1 TB ( makesure 1TB spreaded on all spindle) . i dont want to use it again.

what is the best way to spread the space.

i want to make sure i donot want add all device in thin pool and go with thin device.

Re: VMAX

i don't have access to my Vmax right now, can you specify disk group when you create datadev's ? If it's possible you could create datadevs from that disk group only, place them in dedicated virtual pool and provision tdevs from that pool only. Disclaimer: I am new to Vmax/virtual provisioning

Re: VMAX

Boom,

Sure..thought would be useful.see the other thread V-max Disk groups. It seems with the help of Bin file multiple disk groups can be created instead SMC(which is a product enhancement it seems).

If Bin file allows to create multiple disk groups,Thin/standard devices can be created from those and dedicate disks for specific purpose.
