jaycor card not logging into symmetrix director port
hi guys - my solaris 9 machine with two JNi hba cards connected to emc symm array is not seeing luns assigned to it across one path - symmask list logins shows that the port is logged into the switch (fabric yes) but not logged into the director port (logged in No) - the brocade switch port(s) connecting the host and the array is just fine as well - given that the zoning is also fine -- what else can i check to debug this further -- i am not sure how the jni drivers behave - is it that the driver tries N times and gives up permenantly ....?
any inputs/suggestions is much appreciated
Thanks!!

it that the HBA is not logged into the FA or that the
HBA is logged in but can't see the devices? If HBA
is logged in but not seeing devices, are the devices
masked to it? Are there other HBA's logged into the
FA and are they ok? The best suggestion is to open
up a service request with the PSE Lab to have them
check out the Symmetrix.
'symmask list logins ' shows that it is not logged in -- and the last login time is the time when this hba lost the luns -- the masking is fine as per symmaskdb - yeah the other hbas connected to this FA port are fine - they all are qlogic hbas though ...

I saw such an behavoir when I tried to connect an JNI HBA to a CLARiiON... it wasn't supported but I tried it nevertheless and it just didn't work. I spoke to some engineering people and they told me that there's something specific about JNI and EMC is not supporting this particularity with newer arrays...?!

But you didn't mark any answer as "the correct"
answer .. Could you please explain how did you solve
your issues ??
Thx
it seems it was due to incorrect zoning of some kind ....saving the zoning configuration seems to have worked ...does any one how i can see logs on brocade directors -- which validate
the zoning is working fine ..(like portX attempting to sending a packet to portY and failing to do so - due to zoning restriction...)............

uning the "fcping < init WWN > " command can do the job..
