new host not showing up on DMX

I have just added in a new host, zoning it with FA-4a0 on a DMX. This Windows 2003 host has a Qlogic hba in it. The Qlogic SANsurfer software shows that the server can see the FA port and displays the correct WWN for the FA port it is zoned with.

I have mapped, and then masked some newly created R1 devices to the host, but those devices are not showing up on the host via SYMINQ - the only thing displaying is the VCM.

C:\>syminq -sym

          Device                Product                Device
------------------------- --------------------- ---------------------
Name               Type   ID               Rev  Ser Num      Cap (KB)
------------------------- --------------------- ---------------------
\\.\PHYSICALDRIVE1        SYMMETRIX        5671 xxxxxxxxxx      46080

In comparison, the symmaskdb entries for that host:

Database Type           : Type4
Last updated at         : 02:34:53 PM on Thu Aug 19,2010

Director Identification : FA-4A
Director Port           : 0

                               User-generated
Identifier        Type   Node Name        Port Name         Devices
----------------  -----  ---------------------------------  ---------

21000024ffxxxxxx  Fibre  21000024ffxxxxxx 21000024ffxxxxxx  0233
                                                            027C
                                                            02AF:02B5
                                                            02C3

I rebooted the server, ran a symcfg discover, symmaskdb refresh, and then tried to list logins for dir 4a port 0, but the WWN is not showing up at all. Is there anything else you guys can think of for me to try? Thanks.

You don’t see server WWNs in list logins but you see WWNs of the FA listed in SanSurfer ?

Is the issue an HBA not logging into the FA port or missing devices..?

hi,

have you verified that the LUN address that you have assigned to the host is below 255 (FF)?
