1) EMC Symmetrix (including DMX) don't have an ethernet management connection.
2) the Service Processor can't be neither polled nor managed (AFAIK) via tcp/ip .. that's why we have gatekeepers
3) SRDF gigabit ports can't be polled via SNMP
In a word .. no SNMP with DMXs
Why do you want to monitor the storage via SNMP ??

Alarms in ECC can be sent out through email or SNMP if you wish.
ECC is monitoring the DMX through FC, as Stefano mentioned.
So with this "man in the middle" you can get SNMP traps, but no management !

If you read about the solution enabler demon called storevntd you might find what you are looking for, I haven't set this up as we are using ECC for management but there is a possibility to send snmp in a asyncronys mode from a DMX with the storevntd demon.

Don't know the official engineering answer, but prior to 71 code some version by default SNMP was actually enabled on the GigE adapters and you could pull regular network interfaces MIBs from the cards.
We actually had to put in a request to get it re-enabled at the version of code we are running (72) but we actually do poll the cards to get network errors and network statistics.

Is SNMP enabled by default in 5773? Is it a bin file change to disable? Disruptive to the RE port?
