srdf/a test the target data

We have been running srdf/a and they want to run a test with the data on the hosts on the target side. What is the best way to temporarily stop replicating and enable r/w on the target disks. I know of two ways:

1. symrdf -g Group_name split -force

2.

symrdf -g Group_name set mode sync

wait til its in synchronous mode

symrdf -g Group_name split

Are these fine or is there another way?

Ofcourse you can split the srdf relationship but again merging the tracks etc is a painful task as it needs to copy the data.In srdf/a if you enable the consistency mode, you do not need to change the mode to sync. It's always adviseble to have that mode enabled to make sure your data is copied consistently.

Quickest and cleaner way is to make a clone on R2 side and activate the clone...once done you can discard the clones or keep them for future testing.
