symdev output?

Quick one on symdev output please, what do the following mean:

N/Asst'd , Grp'd , N/Grp'd

I have devices that are in no groups that I know of, but they have various of these listed? I'm guessing these relate to DG's, but not sure about N/Asst'd also.

Also I think I'm ok with the following, but just wanted to confirm:

SA : P DA :IT

------------

???:?  NA:NA

07H:1 09A:C18

***:* 10D:C18

i.e. what is the distinction between ???:? and ***:*    and NA:NA vs DA : IT

is SA : P the FA port?, so 07H:1 would be the one and only port that the device is presented to, and ***:* means multiple, but what about ???:? then?

DA: is the disk adapters on the back end I guess, so should I assume that NA:NA is for a TDEV with no specific back end allocation ?

Grp'd , N/Grp'd relate to DGs.

N/Asst'd relates to BCVs because you need to "associate" a BCV target to a device group when working with them.

for example :

# symdg create testdg

# symld -g testdg add dev AAA STD000

# symld -g testdg add dev BBB STD001

# symbcv -g testdg associate dev 110 BCV000

# symbcv -g testdg associate dev 111 BCV001

# symmir -g testdg -full -exact establish

So, BCV's should display Asst'd or N/Asst'd under the "Attribute" column in a symdev list

A ???:? relates to devices that aren't mapped to an FA port. For example, VAULT devices or TDATs (DATA Devices), under a #symdev list -all. Or, devices under a #symdev list -noport

Yes, an NA:NA is for TDEVs because they have no specific back-end allocation.[extents on a TDEV are allocated from all TDATs in the pool]

Hope this helps.

Association also related to VDEVs, not only BCVs
