Best way to update old PowerEdge 2950 and 2970 servers
What is the best way to update the old PowerEdge servers? The Repository Manager doesn't support them, so I can't create a bootable Linux ISO with the necessary updates. How do I know if I'm up to date or not?
Thanks.

Hi,
You can use the Server update utility which will run the updates. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=D9V9X&fileId=3197590144&osCode=WNET&productCode=poweredge-2950&languageCode=EN&categoryId=SM

Will a custom Linux ISO created from Repository Manager work with a PE2950 or PE2970? I can see certain updates (e.g. NIC firmware) in OME, so I know which update DUPs to choose to create a custom bundle.

Thanks for the reply. That's very helpful, but where did you get the list from? If I look at the Dell drivers website for the PE2950 it gives me way too many options, not the nice list you have here.

Hi,
You can get this information from FTP catalog file, from target System bundle.
Thanks,
Amit
