Can't install openmanager 9.1.0 on 2008r2

Hi there,

I would like to install openmanager 9.1.0 on my 2008r2 server but i have an error, the KB2999226 must be installed. But this KB was installed since september 2015...

I already tried to uninstall it and install again (Windows6.1-KB2999226-x64.msu), without success. I tried also to rename softwareinfo and check a new time windows update, and it's update to date.

Please help me

Hi,

Posting this here for anyone who might need it.

I managed to install OMSA 9.1.0 on Windows Server 2008 R2, to remotely manage a VMware ESXi 6.5 host that has OpenManage 9.1.0 installed.

Please note:

What I did may not necessarily work for you. I have only tried installing this software on a Windows Server 2008 R2 virtual machine, to manage a remote node. I have not observed any issues thus far but it is possible that they do exist. Since Dell claims that the software requires Server 2012 and above, you may run into further problems after installing this unsupported version on a physical Windows server.

Here's how I managed to do it:

The same KB was already installed on the server.

I downloaded Orca (Windows Installer package editor), which comes with the Windows 10 SDK (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/48315763/how-to-install-orca-which-windows-sdks-contain-the-orca-msi-editing-tool).

I opened the MSI file (C:\OpenManage\windows\SystemsManagementx64\SysMgmtx64.msi) with Orca, and selected the ISSetupFile table and simply dropped the SetupFile4 and SetupFile5 rows from the table and saved the file.

The installation then ran with no issues.

Hi Flamingo,

Your solution worked when I launched SysMgmtx64.msi the second time after modification. Not sure why. Probably fatigue because I've been working on it for hours before finding your solution. Thank you for taking the time to post your solution.

Gratefully,

Vinh

Flamingo,

Thanks for this! Still manage a few of these in a backup server capacity.
