DELL OMSA 9.3 Login Failed....connection error
I have been having issues with OMSA. I can log into manage the web server with the admin account. This server had OMSA running perfectly fine until we had a raid array fail. We reinstalled all the software and created a brand new raid array with new drives. I issued new certificates, added localhost:1311 to trusted sites, lowered all the permissions for the localhost domain. Tried Chrome, Brave and MSIE. I'm at a loss for what to do...

Hi,
In your server --> Run prompt --> Services.msc
Were you able to see these below services running?
These services should be running for OMSA to work on the box.
Thanks
Vivek

OK> I carefully followed the instructions. The only service that get installed is DSM SA Connection Service. I also do not see the mr2kserv service. What would that listing be:
How do I determine what is causing the other two services to not install?
Is there a way to install manually?

Eric,
The snap that you shared with only "Connection Service" - is this on any Windows VM or on an actual Windows Server?
If on the Server, in Add Remove programs - attempt to repair and reinstall all the components of OMSA. Then you should be getting all 3 mandatory services running.
Thanks

This is on a Windows Server 2016 Essentials running as a virtual machine on a VMWare ESXi 6.0 environment.
When I go to Add/Remove and try to repair "Systems Management Software" I get errors:
After that I get a few more errors that are related to the same issue. The files already exist for the web server. I click "OK" to each of these and then the repair fails:
If I follow the guide on page 71 I get the same result. I do not get the services installed and I get a connection error.
So far I have tried:
NONE of these get all the services installed. The closes we have come is "DSM SA Connection Service" only. This is why I asked if there is a installation log so we could troubleshoot why the services are not installing or if we can manually install the needed services.
I jumped in on the thread on 11-26-2019 03:36 PM because I was having the same issue. I REALLY need to get this resolved.
Vivek, is there anything else I can try???

Wow...I just got off the phone with Dell. Since the warranty has expired (server was purchased used) they cannot reopen or extend the warranty. The only paid option is $1,000 for 2 hours telephone support from Dell with no guarantee of resolution.
Wow...

Karthik -
This is getting really frustrating. I have done all that at the direction of Vivak (A Dell employee on this forum). I really appreciate you coming to help but please read the entire post.
My OS is Windows Server 2016 Essentials
OSMA 9.3
ESXi 6.0
I have tried all kinds of uninstalls, repairs, full installs and then uninstall, uninstall and install older version.
EVERYTHING I try ends up with only one service installed.
To be totally clear...
I cannot start a service that is missing. Every install I try ends up with only one service installed not three or four that should be there according to the OMSA 9.3 docs. Two of the services do not install no matter what I do. I CANNOT START THEM, THEY ARE NOT THERE.
How can we figure out WHY the missing services aren't there and get it to install properly????????????

Hello Eric,
There can be many factors for only OMSA connection service getting installed.
2 of the many factors affecting the omsa installation
1.If you are trying to install OMSA on a VM only connection service gets installed
2.If you perform a custom installation and do not select all omsa components to install
Screenshot-1
This is how a complete omsa installation looks like with all the features selected.
Screenshot-2
If only connection service is being installed
Please let know what type of screen appears for you during the installation.
Thanks,
Karthik

OK. Solved thanks to Vivak.
I am running a physical server with ESXi 6.5. The Windows server is a virtual machine running on the physical server. What I did:
Install OMSA version 9.1 in ESXi by SSH'ing into the ESXi and installing.
Install matching version on the Windows virtual machine
Now I can connect.

Hello - Glad to hear your issue is resolved.
From what I understand, you have installed OMSA on Windows Server 2016 VM that is sitting on an ESXi OS hosted from a Dell EMC PowerEdge. Please be informed - OMSA needs to be always installed on the physical (Actual Server) - in your case, it should be installed on ESXi OS. Let me know if there is still a disconnect
Happy to help!
