DELL R415 OMSA - Can't find Hard Disk Temperatures

I am working with about 40x DELL R415 Servers and am trying to extract different values. I am having troubles finding some important values like CPU Temperatures and used disk space for in the MIB files and in OMSA.

Is it true that OMSA displays all values that can be accessed via SNMP? So if it's not in OMSA... I can't access them.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Aurodur,

The reportable fields for OMSA SNMP are listed on this link starting about page 24 - http://bit.ly/1kBGBRj

Since you are wishing to get the activity of a vast number of systems I would actually recommend the use of OpenManage Essentials. With OpenManage Server Administrator installed at the server level, you use OpenManage Essentials to provide Discovery, Inventory, and monitoring of all those servers from the single interface. There is an informative vide o on OME here

The downloads for OME are located here -

OpenManage Essentials 1.2

1.2.1 Patch

Let me know how it goes.

Thank you for the quick answer Chris,

That document certainly helps - just what I was looking for! For some reason these servers only let me read the ambient temperature (1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10892.1.700.20.1.6.1.1). I can't find any other temperature readings like CPU temperature. Doesn't matter, that is not so important.

What is very important is to be able to monitor the free/used disk space used. We only used 2 disks in the server which are configured in a RAID 1 Configuration. It is not possible to read the virtual disk free space:

virtualDiskFreeSpaceInMB 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10893.1.20.140.1.1.8 This entry is obsolete

And when reading the space used by the individual array disks:

arrayDiskLengthInMB 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10893.1.20.130.4.1.11.1 = 286080

arrayDiskLengthInMB 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10893.1.20.130.4.1.11.2 = 286080

arrayDiskUsedSpaceInMB 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10893.1.20.130.4.1.17.1 = 286080

arrayDiskUsedSpaceInMB 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10893.1.20.130.4.1.17.2 = 286080

arrayDiskFreeSpaceInMB 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10893.1.20.130.4.1.19.1 = 0

arrayDiskFreeSpaceInMB 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10893.1.20.130.4.1.19.2 = 0

So at the moment it says all disks are full even if they are not and we can't find any way to read the actual free space of the Servers which is quite important.

I have a feeling this could have something to do with our DELL R415 Servers using a PERC S300 Software RAID Controller and not a Hardware RAID Controller.

Have you got any suggestions for us?

Does anyone have an idea on how to get correct SNMP readings for the  space used by RAID Virtual disks? At the moment the manual says "virtualDiskFreeSpaceinMb = This entry is obsolete. This property is not supported by virtual disks managed under storage Management"

Hello Aurodur,

In OMSA, there is a way to check the details for "Used Raid Disk Space" and "Available Raid Disk Space".

If there is a Raid Virtual Disk then click on "Delete VD", a page opens up which will give detailed information of the Raid Virtual Disk. On this page you can check for "Used Raid Disk Space" and "Available Raid Disk Space".

But ensure that the Raid Virtual Disk is not deleted.
