Installing Dell iDRAC Service Module on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
Hi everyone, could anyone provide me any assistance please with updating the iDRAC service module on a Ubuntu 18.04 LTS installed R740 please?
I've gone through the instructions correctly i'd have thought but i'm not a Linux admin, i'm a Windows admin so it's all a bit alien to me.
1. Logged into the iDRAC > iDRAC Settings > Settings. Clicked to Install Service Module.
2. I've then downloaded the OM-iSM-Dell-Web-LX-350-1862_A00.tar.gz file from the Dell website for Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.
3. Copied it to a folder on the Linux server and then extracted it with the 'sudo tar OM-iSM-Dell-Web-LX-350-1862_A00.tar.gz' command. This extracted the files into the directory.
4. The instructions on the Dell website then say to run 'sh setup.sh' but i keep getting the error 'setup.sh: 72: setup.sh: Syntax error: "(" unexpected (expecting "fi")'
Does anyone know what i'm doing, if anything, wrong?

Thank you, apologies for the delay in getting back.
Your suggestion resolve the issue, it was sudo bash setup.sh that i needed to type which got it working and the OS is now reporting properly to iDRAC

Hello Simon
Please refer https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/idrac-service-module_Users-Guide2_en-us.pdf
Page 18 - Reference "Installing The iDRAC Service Module on Linux operating
system"
Also do check if the downloaded file hash calculation values with the website provided hash values to check the integrity of the file (and no broken download)
I hope it would resolve your trouble.

Hello Simon,
could you try 'bash setup.sh' or './setup.sh' instead of 'sh setup.sh'. Please let us know the result.
Thanks,
Sabhina
