OME v1.3 and "dcdbmng" utility

Dear Sir or Madam -

We are in the process of upgrading from OpenManage Essentials v1.0 to v1.3.

After installing v1.3, we cannot find the  "dcdbmng.exe"  utility.

Is it no longer available ?

Thank you.

Hi James,

It looks like it is not part of the install anymore, I tested it and it was not in the directory.

What are you using it to do, import a database? Connect to an existing database?

Hello Josh -

What does Dell recommend as a replacement for the functionality of the "dcdbmng" utility ?

Thank you.

Hello Josh -

On a weekly basis, we run a script to synchronize OME with our CMDB.

We use the utility to -

1) Export the "Device" table to have a list of all devices currently in OME, and

2) Clear and import the "Discovery Configuration" table to get all of the needed discovery templates into OME.

Thank you.

It installs the import and export data utility in the sql server 2012 folder, which can manage the database and looks like it can do the steps that you need. You may also be able to copy dcdbmng from the old folder to the new one and see if that works.

Hello Josh -

The Microsoft  "Import and Export Data"  utility won't work in this case, as it only allows interactive use.  Here is the warning it displays -

In SQL Server Express, Web, or Workgroup, you can run the package that the Import and Export Wizard creates, but cannot save it. To save packages that the wizard creates, you must upgrade to SQL Server Standard, Enterprise, Developer or Evaluation.

The  "dcdbmng"  utility from version 1.0 of OME will not even run on the server having OME version 1.3, as it is looking for a missing DLL.

It appears that the only option is for us to re-write our script to access the database tables directly as no batch-oriented import / export facility is available.

Thank you.
