Power Edge R410 Dell 1TB SP 50XV4 compatibility

Hello,

I have a Power Edge R410 server with 2 500G disks in RAID 1, function ok.
When try to deploy two more 1 T Disks(Dell 1TB SP 50XV4 ) in RAID 1, the raid controller do not recognise then.

I want help in knowing if:

  • is a compatibility problem; if so,
  • what the right disk to assembly; or if,
  • could be an other kind of mistake.

best regards,

P0SA

Hello

50XV4 is a Dell certified drive that will work in the R410. Functionality is dependent on the controller. I suggest reviewing the controller manual to make sure the controller you are using supports the drive. If your other drives are SAS then it could be a mixing violation. Most of our controllers support drive mixing as long as they are not in the same virtual disk, a few of our controllers do not allow drive mixing across the entire controller. Review the controller manual for possible issues with your configuration.
