R720 iDRAC SLES 11 Sp1 Special characters "|" doesnt work
I have installed SLES 11 SP1 on the DELL R720. The system has iDRAC enterprise installed.
The pipe symbol "|" , "@" symbol and some other special characters dont work when I use virtual console.
is this a known issue ? is there a fix or workaround available ?

Sometimes the Single Cursor option will get keystrokes to pass through, but if that doesn't work you might want to try a different browser.

On the Virtual Console window you will see setting menus across the top, within those is "Keyboard Passthrough" select that and then test that the keys work.
Let me know what you find.

That setting is enabled by default and it does not help. I tried both enabling and disabling it.
General->Keyboard passthrough mode->pass all key strokes to server

Doesnt work on IE 8

Can you let me know which plugin are you using to launch Virtual Console (Native or Java). You can check this from Virtual Console page. If it is not working with one plugin can you try other plugin type as well? For Native Plugin to work you need to have Administrator rights on Client. Also make sure iDRAC IP or Hostname is added to trusted site and security for trusted site is configured as Medium - Low.
Which operating system you have on client from where you are launching iDRAC?
