SNMP Alerts on MD3000i to IT Assistant
We recently deployed a pair of PowerVault 3000i iSCSI storage systems. We wish to monitor their health with IT Assistant as we do with our other Dell systems - mostly servers. We have, however noticed the following:
1. No IP Address or Service Tag in the SNMP Trap
2. IT Assistant doesn't seem to know the trap comes from a storage device. In order to have the alert emailed, we had to set the filter to "All Devices". Just setting to "Storage Devices" doesn't email the alert. We are running IT Assistant Version 8.5 and both MD3000i's appear in the device list with their corresponding IP addresses. Here is a copy of the emailed alert.
Device: 0.0.0.0, Service Tag:, Asset Tag:, Date:02/16/10, Time:03:28:34:000, Severity:Critical, Message:Dell MD Array Storage Alert: Battery backup unit overheated . [IP Address= 0.0.0.0, HostName= , UserLabel= MD3000I-B , ErrorCode= 7300 , TimeStamp= Feb 16, 2010 3:27:06 AM , ComponentType= Battery Pack , ComponentLocation= Enclosure 0
