Storage warning issue monitoring ESXi host with OpenManage Essentials
Hi-
We are trying to monitor a R710 server with ESXi 5.1, build 799733. We have installed the latest VIB file and are receiving a warning under Data Sources for the host for Server Administrator (Storage Management) and for the Embedded ESX agent.
We have been able to successfully monitor ESXi 5.0 and 5.5 hosts using OpenManage Essentials, but are not familiar enough with it to understand why it is not working with 5.1. It appears to maybe be an issue with the VIB however it displays correctly in the vSphere client.
Any assistance with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

There is a couple things that could possibly be causing this. Likely this isn't due to the ESXi version but that the VIB was incorrect or had an issue on loading. I would try uninstalling and reinstalling it to see if it might have just been a hiccup on install. Also the server has the iDrac6 installed, which doesn't communicate as well with OME as the 7 does in regards to storage. One thing I would suggest to minimize this would be to ensure that the BIOS, iDrac and the Raid controller are all at their most current firmware revisions as well.
