ULNC \ MUMC confussion...???

I can not find any good documentation on how to properly setup the ULNC \ MUMC software.

I have 4 Dell servers.  1 is a domain controller and the rest are virtual servers running VMWare.

Am I suppose to have 1 MUMC and all my other server running the ULNC to allow for the graceful shutdown processes?

Should this 1 MUMC be installed on my dedicated domain controller pc?

Ive read that the MUMC should be installed on my vCenter server to keep from installing ULNC on all the virtual machine, but cant find instructions on how to do this..or if this is even correct?

Can anyone provide some better details on how all this is suppose to work together?

Thanks

Hi,

What is the model of the UPS you have? You are correct for using ULMC for shutdown of individual VMs and MUMC for the hosts. http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_rack_infrastructure/dell-line-interactive-tower-ups-1000t_Reference%20Guide5_en-us.pdf

We are using a 1920w UPS.
System Firmware: 01.08.0001
Network Card Firmware: 01.18.0005

So I worked on it a good bit yesterday and think I have it installed across the board now, but would like a second opinion on best practices.

Server 1:  Primary Domain Controller - Running MUMC
Server 2:  VMWare Server1 - Now showing in MUMC after setting up virtualization in MUMC system settings.
Server 3:  VMWare Server2 - Now showing in MUMC after setting up virtualization in MUMC system settings.
Server 4:  VMWare Server3 - Now showing in MUMC after setting up virtualization in MUMC system settings.
Server 5:  VMWare Server4 - Now showing in MUMC after setting up virtualization in MUMC system settings.

Questions:
1)  Should I have the MUMC running on another machine other than my domain controller?

2)  It is ok to have the MUMC running on a virtual machine or is it recommended to be running on a physical machine?

3)  I have the VMWare host now showing up in the MUMC, do I still need to install the ULMC on all the VMs?

4) I see the MUMC in the stand-alone vSphere client, but do not see it in the vSphere Web Client.  Am I just not seeing it, is there an additional add-on that needs to be installed, or is it just not there yet and still have to do all the configuration under the stand-alone client?
