iDRAC 7 Not recognizing after installation in T420
Hello,
My company purchased a T420 new from Dell a year or so ago. Well we decided to put an iDRAC 7 card in it. I realize I need to purchase the software license as well, however, when I power on the system, POST doesn't even show that the iDRAC is installed. There's no Ctrl-E option to configure it. BIOS setup doesn't have a "Dedicated" option for the DRAC network interface.
When I first power on the system, the link lights, amber and green, both light up on the iDRAC card. The green light flashes with network activity.
Both lights go off for a second, then comes back on for maybe 10-15 sec, then goes off again. I have tried reseating the iDRAC card.
The T420 was completely powered off and unplugged from AC power when it was installed.
This is what I purchased:

Tnc10284,
The issue looks to be compatibility, as the part you linked to ebay is compatible with the R320, R420, R520, and the Powervault NX400. I am not showing it as supported in the T420, despite what they say on the ebay page. The iDrac part number you would need for the T420 would be part number WD6D2

Thanks! That's very helpful. I'll get one of those and try it.

I have a problem when starting my t420,( after many years of work) it does not find the idrac (basic version) so I bought an additional idrac card with this sn 02827M but it is not recognized during boot.
