converted t420 from server to desktop. system slow down. Is it processor related or storage related? slow down occurs in file explorer, email and internet searching

You will need to troubleshoot the issue to locate the cause of the performance issue. If the problem was not occurring before you made changes then the issue is likely with something that was changed. The system should have diagnostics built in, and they are available on the system support page.
