Another instance of SUU is already running

I'm attempting to run SUU from the command line on a server with suu -u.

I'm getting the message:
The Sytem Update Utility failed.
Another instance of SUU is already running.
Only one instance of SUU is allowed at a time, unless it is invoked with the -progress (-p) option or -help (-h).
SUU application error, existing...

We had a power failure on this computer while an instance of SUU was running, but now I can't get it to start again to complete the update process.

How do I fix this?

Just curious, which version of the Server Update Utility are you using?  You can go to "About" in the upper right-hand corner of the application and then you'll get a popup window that shows you the version number.  Also, are you running this on Windows or Linux?

I'm running version 4.5 for Windows.

Is this error also caused because another instance is running ?

The Software Update Utility was unable to collect inventory on this system.
inventory collector multiple instance timeout
SUU application error, exiting...

Just worked out you need to kill the dcmdev32.exe process to resolve the error above
