UPS monitor and VmWare ESXi?
I've installed ESXi 3.5 on my PowerEdge 2950 III with the intent on running my backup server (Windows 2008 64-bit BE 12.5) and leaving room for a VM that I can use as a test server. My only problem is having the ability to shutdown the server if it goes to battery backup. I have the server plugged into an APC SMART-UPS 1500, but no way of loading the agent since ESXi does not allow server console access. I have a DRAC card installed for remote management.
Has anyone come up with a solution for this?

You can use APIs/scripts to manage ESX. I think there should be an API command to shutdown the ESX Server. You should be able to write a simple PowerShell command or perl script or even a java program. Link to VMware APIs: http://www.vmware.com/support/pubs/sdk_pubs.html
