Being cheap and as it is long out of warranty, have others had success with BIOS Master Password Generator? I bought mine refurbished and the BIOS password is already set.

leonicholson,
Since this is a Latitude, did you contact your IT Department?
You can contact Dell Tech Support. If in warranty no fee. Out of warranty, there will be a fee.

leonicholson,
The password is stored in nonvolatile, flash EEPROM memory. Dell Tech Support is the only way to reset this. If you try other programs, you do so at your own risk.

Do I really need to upgrade the bios anyway? It is currently A06 with A09 available.
There are updated drivers and applications available.
Can I install them without updating the bios?

leonicholson,
You should be able to read the description for the BIOS upgrade and then decide if you need it or not.
Drivers you should be able to update, if you have admin priviledges on the computer.

Thanks.
I'll just give up. It is ridiculous having to pay Dell just to update a Bios.
I was able to update drivers.

Follow up.
Checked again with Dell support. Received unlock code. Updated Bios.
Life is good. :emotion-2:
