Dell Venue 8 3840 Extremely Slow
I received the Venue 8 as a Christmas gift. I like the size and the screen and thought this was suppose to be decent in the speed department. However mine is extremely slow. Last night I didn't a half hour trying to scroll through facebook. After restarting the tablet, I spent another half hour trying to get to the Dell support page. When I push the back button it can take anywhere from 10 seconds to 2 minutes for it to work. Any ideas on why it is so slow? Anything I can do?

Yes it's usable.

The problem is with the operating system, Android 4.4.4. Dell is aware of the problem and has for some time. However, they fake going through the motions of repairing it (send it back, "replace" the motherboard, which they've supposedly done twice), but the problem is never resolved.
When forcing Dell to face the problem (which took multiple tries and repeated hangups), their answer is to refuse to honor the warranty. They "offered" to take it back, but I'd have to pay a "restocking fee" so they can turn around and re-sell it to some poor unsuspecting sucker.
I used to be a loyal Dell customer. I haven't purchased anything but Dell computers for over 15 years. Never again.

I don't think Dell has recommended that we disabled apps. It's just us users trying to get the tablet working have made the recommendation.

However, Dell does not have resolution to the tablet's common issue.
Or at least Dell has not resolved my, or others, tablet's common issue.

Actually they do, there's a "knowledge base" article suggesting it, Lol. Funny kind of.
I wrote this over at XDA a few months back may help out somebody. The one my mother has is actually pretty usable. It also just got an update yesterday as well as a couple of months ago that have sped it up.

SEND IT BACK FOR A REFUND!!! Save yourself from the frustrations and put your money towards a working tablet. This tablet is horrible!

Dell will let you return the item for a refund as long as it is not past 30 days of a new purchase.
I, and others, waited too long to ask for a return. I did ask to return it but was told no because it was past 30 days.

No. Dell will not consider a return passed 30 days. I and others have tried but did not get the return.
