symptoms will not POST (no display,
* charges OK (either via power connector or on dock) with correct 19v 24w adaptor
* have swapped battery (no change in symptom
* press power, hear short buzz, if press windows icon on front, also buzz, fan on, otherwise no other indicator of unit being on
* press power w/ vol + pressed, the charge indicator will have a 4 (amber) flash
* same symptom either on battery or with AC adaptor (either through charge connector or via dock)
* tried with unit in dock, no difference.
with keyboard plugged into dock, no indication that keyboard initialized
* suspected cmos battey failed (tested at ~ 1.5 volts should be 3) so I replaced, this didn't change symptoms (same 4 amber led flash before and after change)
Anyone found a remedy?

mrcmorg,
The 4amber flash led represents a memory failure. The motherboard will need to replaced. Contact Dell Support at 1-800-624-9896 for setting up to have the motherboard replaced due to memory failure.
The Venue 11 Pro (7130 / 7139) supports 4GB or 8GB LPDDR3 / DDR3L (1600 MHz) integrated memory that is embedded on the system board. In the event of memory failure, it will require system board replacement.

Question, I acquired the DOA 7130 (i5 vPro 8gb ram, 256g ssd) used. I'm assuming it is outside any standard warranty, so unless Dell has an exception policy I'm SOL
Is a mobo replacement for memory failure covered by any exception warranty policy?

Don't bother. After tons of reading on this forum I bet you won't have much luck after you do repairs anyway. You'll be lucky to make it another year and have it *** out again. I have a DV11P 7140 as well. Won't charge, won't power on...it's dead as a doornail. No warranty to speak of. My best bet is a new mobo on ebay, but I'm thinking it's not worth it. $500+ down the drain on that tablet. best fix....DON'T BUY A DELL.
