Venue 8 Pro adaptive brightness 'fix'
Apologies if this has been mentioned already, but on the xda-developers forum antys86 posted a much better (IMHO) calibration for Windows 8's adaptive brightness settings, which actually makes adaptive brightness usable on the Venue for me rather than just having to turn it off as many reviews suggested. Use it after applying Dell's Ambient Light Sensor Settings update.
Paste the following into a new text file:

Rename the file adaptivebrightness.reg (you may need to turn on file name extensions in the ribbon to change the extension).
Double click on the file, and click OK to the UAC and registry editor prompts.
Reactivate adaptive brightness for your chosen power plan if you have it disabled, and I advise setting your brightness to 100% on both battery and AC.
Reboot to see the changes.
If you want to revert to the Dell calibration, just delete the ALRPoints value in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AdaptiveDisplayBrightness\{23B44AF2-78CE-4943-81DF-89817E8D23FD} key.
Obviously, as this makes the screen brighter than the Dell calibration that could cause your battery to drain faster, but it will still most likely be better than turning adaptive brightness off entirely.
