cranard,
Try reading...
What is a Dell Service Tag and how do I locate it?
If you can start the system, click on settings and the service tag should be located there.
Did you register the system? Registering your Dell Product

Unfortunately, it's only a couple months old, I hadn't yet. I didn't realize the sticker would be so important! Anyways, the problem with my tablet is one of power, and now, since I don't have any way to power it up, and no sticker on the bottom, there doesn't seem to be anything I can do... it would seem a serial number and a receipt aren't enough these days!

Dell's Service Tag is the "serial number".
If you still have the original box, the Service Tag is probably on the label. It's on that label for my Venue 3840.
EDIT: There's no sticker on my Venue 8 (Android). Assuming the tablet still boots, you can probably find the Service Tag somewhere on the Settings screen.
In Android 4.4.4, go to Settings and look for "About Tablet" and it should be shown there.

I guess I've heard enough of the same "almost" answer to my question.
Without the Service Tag from the box or the device, your warranty is null and VOID. Just be careful out there, and let everyone else know how important it is to hold onto that number!!

If you registered your devices on Dell's site, log into the forums and go here. Click the View Your Products link where it will show the models and Service Tags of devices registered to you.
If you failed to register the tablet, start a new thread on the Customer Care forum. Ask one of Dell's Customer Care people to help. They'll contact you privately at the email address you registered with the forum. They'll need your personal info and either your customer number or the invoice number for the tablet, and that should allow them to look up your Service Tag.

If there is one lesson here... Do not buy dell.
Thousands of us have been f-ed over by dell.
Dell is more like compaq... before hp bought them.
