Which Malware/Virus protection is best to use on Windows 11?

I have a Dell XPS 15 with Windows 11.  I am very happy with it but I installed McAfee Total Protection on it.  I was under the impression this is good all around protection.  It seems my laptop is running so slow now.  I realize all protection will slow it down to some degree.  It's made me think of possible alternatives.

I have done some research and I've read some places that Windows BitDefender is the best and that all protection that's needed it already in Windows 11 and it's far more secure than previous versions of Windows.  Is this true?

Should I do anything special to use the built-in protection.  Are there some 3rd party products I should look at instead.  A couple I have seen mentioned are Kaspersky and Malwarebytes.

The built-in security features in Windows 11 are certainly a good starting point for protecting your device. Windows Defender provides basic anti-virus and anti-malware protection, and it has been improved with each new version of Windows. However, if you want more comprehensive protection, you may want to consider a third-party security softwares.

Both Kaspersky and Malwarebytes are well-respected security vendors, and both offer comprehensive protection for your device. You should choose the one that best fits your needs and budget. Kaspersky is a comprehensive security suite that includes anti-virus, anti-malware, and firewalls, while Malwarebytes focuses primarily on anti-malware protection.

If you have been experiencing slow performance with McAfee Total Protection, it's possible that this is due to the software's high resource usage. Uninstalling McAfee and switching to a different security solution may help improve your device's performance.

It's also important to keep your operating system and software up to date, as updates often include security patches to address vulnerabilities. Additionally, you should make sure you're using strong and unique passwords, and be cautious about downloading attachments or clicking links from unknown sources.
