Do we have any limitation on number of SG, a device can be part of?

Hi All,

Do we have any limitation on number of SG's, a device can be part of and also the number of PG's, a port can be part of?

Storage Groups:

  • A storage group can contain up to 4K Symmetrix device numbers, and devices can belong to more than one storage group.

  • A storage group (parent) may also include the name of another storage group(s) (child)  to allow the groups to be cascaded to a depth of one. (Enginuity 5876and above)

  • A storage group can only contain device(s) or other storage group(s), no mixing is allowed. (Enginuity 5876and above)

  • A parent storage group can have upto 32 child storage groups. (Enginuity 5876and above)

  • There can be up to 8Kstorage groups per Symmetrix.

Port Groups:

  • A port can belong to more than one port group.

  • A port group can contain up to 128 director entries with a maximum of 2 port entries per director.

  • Only Fibre and Gig-E ports on front-end directors will be allowed to be added to a port group. Port groups can have mixed port types.

  • There can be up to 8K port groups per Symmetrix.
