Engines added, how to add FAs to Port Group

I have recently added 2 engines to my 40k. I now need to add 1 FA pr director to a common Port Group (PG). The PG is shared between Windows, Linux, VMware and XEN servers/clusters, and the FAs are heavily loaded (55-90% CPU)

*     Should I do the soning on the fabrics, before adding more FAs to the PG?

*     Should my hosts be prepared in any way, any precautions to take on the host, san or array side?

          (how about lun IDs etc?)

This, I think, has to be a common task when/after installing an Engine, but I cannot find any guidelines or whitepapers on how to do this?

Thank you

n.

First make sure that you see new FAs in output below:

$ symcfg list -sid -FA ALL

You must have checked that they are logged into fabric.

Alias them and zone them to server that need these addl. FAs in Fabric configuration

You can then add to PG.

$ symaccess -sid -name   add -type port -dirport

OS scan & Multipathing on server will take care of scanning the new paths.

For critical and Prod. DBs we prefer to shutdown DB, just in case.

Thanks
