Experience with Enginuity 5876.229.145 Performance

All,

I was just wondering what everyone has seen in regards to performance with regards to

Enginuity 5876.229.145.  Have you been affected by the change to FAST-VP?  Did you need

to change your FAST Relocation Rate?  If so, did that rectify any problems seen after the

upgrade?

Thanks,

Will S.

Will,

I had a customer last week who went through upgrade to 5876.229.145 and noted big changes to their utilization and also improved response times especially on their SATA tier, response times went form 200ms to around 30 ms, now this was upgrade from 5875 code.  No changes were made to FAST VP afterwards but they did see better utilization of Flash after.

Hope this sets you mind at ease.

The FRR in 5876.229 is more aggressive.

I had the same experience and had to throttle back our FRR.  We are still having higher CPU utilization but that seems to be a known issue with this code.  Unfortunately I didn't see your thread before I started this thread the other day.

The relocation mechanism was changed in 76 to make it more efficient.  This was in all flavors of 76 code, not just the latest release.  The effect of this could result in more movements with the same FRR.  So a higher FRR value on 76 may be required to equal the same movement rate you had on 75.
