How do you determine RDF group numbers when querying SRDF/A Storage Groups?

The SYMRDF QUERY command requires the RDF group number to be supplied when attempting to query SRDF/A storage groups. But it appears that the SYMSG SHOW command does not include the RDF group number the same way the SYMDG SHOW command does. So how do you determine what the RDF group number is in order to execute a SYMRDF QUERY?

Hello ThortonMellon,

Here is the link to Symmetrix SRDF Family CLI guide & if you look on page 126 you can see the cli command that you can run to get the group number.

The link you provided points to "EMC Solutions Enabler Symmetrix SRDF Family CLI Version 6.4" where on page 126 it references "Splitting concurrent RDF devices" and "Restoring concurrent RDF devices" which does not address the original question. It also appears that this document does not make reference to any CLI commands that support the Storage Group option (i.e. -sg).

We are currently using CLI version 9.0, so I suspect there may be a Version 9.0 of this document. Can you confirm that and send us that link?

Thanks for your help!

Looking through the Version 9.0 documentation, it appears that the only command that returns the RDF group number is the symcfg command(see below) which unfortunately returns all of the RDF groups rather than the one we want. symcfg list -sid 0110 rdfg ALL The question is, is this an oversite on the part of the "symsg show" command or do we have a configuration issue that is preventing the displaying of the RDF group number when using the "symsg show" command?

Hello ThortonMellon,

To list SRDF/A group information, use the -rdfg and -rdfa options with symcfg list.

After this example, SRDF/A write pacing is described in detail.

symcfg list -sid 198 -rdfg 180 -rdfa

This is listed on page 101 of the guide in this link.
