You essentially have two options to do this on-line:

1. Host based migration. Used host-based software such as Powerpath Migration Enabler or native LVM to migrate to a new striped meta TDEV on your VMAX 10K.

2. Meta expansion and conversion.

-Create a second TDEV the same size as the original

-Expand the existing TDEV to a 2-member concat. meta

-Convert the 2-member concat. meta to a 2-member striped meta

-These procedures are outlined in the Solutions Enabler Controls Guide.

My personal suggestion would be option #1...since option #2 will only get you to a 2-member meta which may not be enough to help and will take significantly more effort.

Hello, hope you are doing well,

In addition to mentioned above ways you could use non-disruptive VLUN migration from existing 2-way LUN to newly created striped meta (which performing much better due to increased cache slots). Any additional information regarding VLUN migration you could find here:

Hope this helps,

Pavel, Unfortunately in the case of thin volumes (which are required on VMAX 10K) that method will not work. For thin volumes the only operation you can perform with VLUN migration is the movement of an existing meta from one pool to another. It does not support moving from a single TDEV to a striped meta TDEV. For more details please see the Solutions Enabler Controls Guide.
