Need more info about consistent_lun Switch !!
Hi All ,
While creating a IG group in VMAX , we used the switch option "consistent_lun" , kindly let me know what its purpose and suppose while creating an IG group if I forgot to add this will it make any changes .
symaccess -sid XXXX create -type initiator -name IG_Na1 -consistent_lun

-consistent_lun switch provides a static LUN ID to the device being allocated, normally if this switch is not used, VMAX allocates a LUN ID to the device which may change (dynamic lun addressing in enabled in VMAX).
Some applications require the LUN address to be consistent, then we can use the switch -consistent_lun.

Hi,
Consistent_lun basically ensures that host lun_id's are same across the your HBA's (IG's)..
This also ensure that if you add any new paths (wwn's) to your IG's the same host lun_id'will be used for these new paths as well .
