SRDF Migration R1 to a larger R2 device

Hi

i am going to migrate  VMAX 250F Hyper Max 5799.1125.1125 to a New VMAX450FX, but the customer is asking me about migrate a server with R1 devices to a larger R2 Device, i mean, 4gb devs to 18gb devs to avoid extra work post migration, i was checking some docs and found that it is possible enabling SYMAPI_RDF_CREATEPAIR_LARGER_R2 on options file, but i am not sure if i need just to perform this change.

this is just for migrating due to the customer is going to turn off the VMAX250F

do i need a specific hypermax version on both boxes??

could you help me with any recommendation or info about it ?????

is there any impact for the production, data loss or something like that?

Best Regards

You should be fine to migrate to larger R2 with those arrays and the symcli variable set. Note that It is a one way street. there is no going back to the smaller R1 device (via SRDF). So the planning should be considering this.
