Moving virtual disks RAID to a new machine.

Hello,

Is it possible to move volume (software RAID crated  from virtual disks) in windows 2003 to other machine (windows 2008)? May be on vmware lvl ? What are the choices?

I've checked it. It apears that it's very simple.Just connect vdisks to new VM. In windows you just bring disk online and import foregin disk, DONE Sry, for taking your time.

So you have an ESX host with a Windows 2003 VM and inside this VM you have several vmdks which you striped into a single drive letter for that VM? You might want to search the Microsoft knowledgebase if filesystems are portable from Windows 2k3 to Win 2k8. If Windows can handle this I think it’s possible to connect the vmdks to another VM (when the old Win 2k3 is switched off ofcourse).
