Storage Vmotion slow

Hello All,

I am working with a client regarding slow performance during storage vmotion. VAAI is enabled. Upon checking the logs, I figured that the write IO size during the process is very small. It was averaging 2KB writes during the storage vmotion process. It's over FC.

This seems to be limiting factor for low badwidth. Has anyone come across a similar scenario? What could cause such a small write size?

Appreciate any inputs regarding this.

Cheers

Rupak

I know that .12 is the latest version, might want to check the release notes to see if it fixes any of your issues.

I checked that, found nothing matching.

Saw this: http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2000755

This is related to VMAX though.

Thx...

What storage array and what version of code are you running on the array?

Hi Rupak,

How did you measure the I/O sizes?  Was it logs on the array, or logs on a switch?

Have you opened a case for this yet?  If so please send me the details.

Thanks,

Alan
