VMware SRM and Multiple Arrays

Tier 1 type VM’s on block [non-EMC]

Tier (everything else) on Isilon.

Question came up about is there anything special in SRM to be concerned about that would prevent them from protecting VM’s on both arrays? Virtual Machines will NOT live on both arrays at one time and we are NOT talking about replicating non-EMC to Isilon or anything like that.

I have only ever installed SRM with one type of array replication so I did not want to stick my foot in my mouth. It would seem to me that it would work, but would like to draw from everyone’s experience.

Answer from several smart people is it will work just fine. You would most likely not want to have part of a VM on array A and another part on array B.

What comes into my mind is as Tier 1 is a non-EMC block storage, you definitely has no way to do the array level replication to Isilon. Host level replication software need to be used to copy VM between block storage and Isilon. Then SRM can be used.
