Adding VNX CIFS server to DFS
Hey guys,
We are running into an odd issue. We have a fully functioning CIFS server on your VNX. The issue is when we add it to DFS share we get an error that says "Check DFS Replication Member Validity". Then if i pick the error tab it says: "the member is running a down level operating system". we have a server 2008 (not R2) domain. do we need to raise the server version to 2008? if so does anyone know how.
Thanks guys.

The Celerra / VNX CIFS server (like all other non-Windows NAS servers) do not implement DFS replication
You can use it in a DFS - just not replicate

To my knowledge no non-Microsoft Windows based NAS system has implemented DFS-R

If you search for the VNX document "Managing a Multiprotocol Environment on VNX", it describes how a VNX can participate in DFS. This might be the information you need.
Thanks!

That would be DFS-N - N as in name space
DFS-R for replication is extra and won't work
