Backup VNX Configuration
Hello,
one of our custmer is concerned about how to backup the array configuration in case of disaster. He would like to use Tivoli to backup the array configuration in order to export this data to a DR site, is it possible to do? I mean, something like install the Tivoli client on the Control Station and backup the configurations.
Otherwise, is there any other method to perform this operation?
Thanks in advance
Regards
Andrew

Don't install TSM client on the control station
Just from time to time copy our nasdb_backup to another location

The array performs a regular backup of the array which EMC support can use to restore as much of the configuration as needed. The backup files are stored in the directory:
/nas/var/backup
I recommend periodically copying that directory to another location also.

Hi Cristopher
Is it possible to restore VNX unified configuration with all Raid Group, Pools, Luns, file systems, Exports, initiators, Storage groups, etc ?
Are there any tool for backing up VNX block configuration ?
Thank you

Hi dzmitryj,
You can get that type of info using USM.
After you login go to "View System Configuration" then "Generate". This will connect to your array and generate a html report with detailed information in it.
You could also schedule this using naviseccli with the following syntax;
naviseccli -h arrayname arrayconfig -capture -output filename.xml
Of course change arrayname to your array hostname and filename.xml to name of your choice.
Schedule as per your preference. You can then open the saved reports in USM
Hope this helps.
