Blade switch

Hi,

I have a doubt, somebody has told me about a blade switch for VNX, instead of using a FC switch for the SAN. I´d like to know what is this exactly. Is refer to use the VNX as a FC switch

Thanks in advance

Regards

Only Symmetrix VMAX has a built-in switch, maybe you can confirm it again with your friend.

Not for host connectivity, just for itself.

They are two 16-port RapidIO switches called the Matrix Interface Boards.

No Dynamox, he is not referring to directors but the MIBE which are used to connect directors (connection from SIB of each director ) each other. Of course as you mentioned, there is no switch which can be used for host connectivity.

is it actually referred to as fiber channel switch in EMC internal documentation ?

I never said it's a "fiber channel" switch, but a RapidIO switch is still a "switch"...
