CIFS use stand alone mode

When we use celerra ,there is a stand alone mode with cifs. Is AD a must for VNXe CIFS shares?

In a small enviroment , there is no AD,no NTP,no DNS.Then can VNXe work is this enviroment?

VNXe systems do not support stand alone CIFS servers. Along similar lines, you need to have DNS, NTP servers in your environment to be able to setup the system. This is a known customer concern though.

VNXe does support stand alone CIFS servers. Check the VNXe Unisphere CLI Guide.

You might have to update your OE - standalone CIFS server functionality was added recently

Forgot to mention it. You are correct Rainer_EMC, you'll need OE > 2.2.X to configure a standalone CIFS server. Looks like it will work in both GUI and CLI mode.

Hi,

additional question. Can we create/add username and point it to a specific share that is created?
