Can Xblade 10GB I/O modules do 1GB/s

I have a customer who has the 2x 10GB/s optical IO modules in his data movers.  He would like to know if they were connected to a 1GB switch using optical connectors if the IO card would downgrade to 1GB/s.

I think the optical IO modules will not autonegotiate (the IEEE standard defines that 10 Gbe will not have autonegotiation).

The newer VNX copper modules are 10GbE-BaseT, and will do 10/100/1000/10000

I think peter is right and got the following information in the document.

The 10GbE optical Ultraflex I/O module can be used in Data Movers but not in Storage Processors, and can only be configured for 10Gb, Full Duplex communication.

The 10GbE copper Ultraflex I/O module has Dual 10GBase-T RJ45 Ports for Cat 6, 6a and 7 cabling, Cat 6 supports 55m max length at 10Gbps and Cat 6a and 7 supports 100m max length at 10Gbps. If Cat 5e and lower cabling is used it supports no higher than a 1Gbps rate. This card can be used in both Data Movers and Storage Processors. In the Data Movers it can be configured for speeds of Auto, 10HD, 100HD, 1000FD and 10000FD. In a Storage Processor it is limited to AUTO, 1000FD and 10000FD.
