Can a SAN Copy Target Volume be Used as Recoverpoint Source Volume?

Hi There,

I am in the midst of performing a migration from  VNX 5500 to a VNX5600. I an opting to use a storage based migration method. Part of the customers requirements are that the RecoverPoint Replication to DR must be started simultaneously done with the migration.

I am aware that the MirrorView target (VNX5600) cannot be used as a RecoverPoint Source LUN.  Would a SAN Copy Target LUN be allow to be used  as  Recover Point source LUN?

If this is not possible, the only other mode of migration is by using Open Migrator (host based migration) which is more tedious as two host reboots are required. Thanks

PPME is a bit scary as there is no fall back once committed.

you can use PPME to migrate back, just like you can bring the system backup up on the old array if SANCopy migration is not successful.

The reason for fall back could be because the new volume could be corrupted hence migration back would not be an option. That what led me to my question. Thanks
